how to use this site:

Welcome to publiccinema.org, the digital salon of the Rural Media Arts and Education Project.  On this site you will find a schedule and links and resources for our free admission documentaries screened in our Cinema Veritas program, a community discussion board, and links and resources for local and national community groups that are working to make a difference.  This site is intended as a compliment to Cinema Veritas, but also as a way of continuing the discussion begun after the presentations.

On the about page, you can read our “public cinema manifesto” or the whys and hows of a public cinema.

The film schedule will direct you to past and current programs.

The discuss page allows you to enter our monitored on-line forum.  You are invited to post and discuss your views on issues raised in the Cinema Veritas presentations, and post news about your organization and on upcoming community events.

Directions will tell you how to get to our venue, the Sixth Street Cinema, and also how to contact us.

The Community page will help you connect with local and national groups working to make a difference in the Mariposa area, and around the world.

The Media Access page focuses on a topic dear us – making all forms of media accessible to everyone.  Organizations promoting media access and media literacy are listed here, as are alternative news sites and pages on children and media.  We have also included a list of books that have helped us understand media and its affects.

The store contains DVDs of programs we have screened.  A portion of the proceeds goes to help support our work.

The membership page will give you an opportunity to support our work through membership.
